Kentucky Fried Chicken sponsored my trip to Barcelona and later offered me a job when I returned to Hong Kong. This started a five-year stint doing corporate communications and public relations for PepsiCo Restaurants International.

Corporate life taught me about writing, creating slide-show presentations, public relations, business class, limousines, cigars, eating right and living well. It gave me a perspective I'd never had. And that made it okay because it was something I had always wanted to experience. It also forced me to decide what it was that I wanted to do with my life. I decided that a KFC Grand Opening ceremony with 100 school children dressed like Colonel Sanders doing the Chicken Dance on the Pudong Bund to music by the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra was fun, but hopefully my art would eventually make a bigger contribution to the universe.
